$750 COVID isolation payment: How to apply for Centrelink’s Pandemic Leave Disaster Payment if you have a positive RAT or PCR test

Centrelink, and a range of Government services across Australia, are closing offices over the Christmas and New Year period in 2021.

While the self-service (MyGov) sites will remain operational, there will be some changes to Centrelink payments and opening hours.

Scroll down to see the changes to Centrelink reporting and payment dates, as well as office hours, over the Christmas period

You won’t be able to contact Centrelink staff during office closures, but you’ll be able to do most things via the online self-service tools.

Everything you need to know about the Centrelink payment increase

“During the holiday period, the easiest and most convenient way to do business with us is by using an online account through myGov, the Express Plus mobile apps, or phone self-service,” Services Australia General Manager Hank Jongen told 7NEWS.com.au.

“These services are available 24/7, even on public holidays.

“Centrelink customers can use myGov to apply for an advance payment, update their details, lodge a Medicare claim, or report their employment income.”

Is Centrelink open over Christmas?

Centrelink offices will be closed on:

Monday, 27 December, 2021Tuesday, 28 December, 2021Wednesday, 29 December, 2021Monday, 3 January, 2022

Can you call Centrelink on public holidays?

Most phone lines providing Centrelink, Medicare and Child Support services will be closed during the office closures listed above.

Some phone lines providing Australian Immunisation Register and Medicare provider services will also remain open.

You can scroll down to see a full list of Centrelink contact phone numbers and emails depending on your situation.

Do public holidays affect Centrelink payments?

Yes. Reporting and payment dates for Centrelink customers may change during the Christmas and New Year period.

Revised reporting and payment dates may change depending on an individual’s circumstances.

Reporting and payment dates – if you need to report

This information has been provided by Services Australia.

The dates you need to report have changed due to the Christmas and New Year public holidays.

If you report early during your assessment period you’ll need to include what you expect to be paid for your full period. You must also do this for any other changes that may affect your payment. If you make a mistake, you can correct your report within 14 days, or when you next report.

If you report after your assessment period, Services Australia will pay you after you report. You may want to do this so you can be sure of your employment income or changes to your circumstances.

Reporting and payment dates – if you DON’T need to report

This information has been provided by Services Australia.

If you don’t need to report employment income, you’ll be paid early.

Centrelink won’t delay payments because of a public holiday, but you may be paid earlier than normal. An early payment is your normal payment, just paid early.

Where Services Australia pays an early payment, it pays as close to and before your normal payment day. You’ll need to budget so this payment lasts until your next payment day.
